Debra Towett is a political scientist and passionate advocate for good governance, ethical leadership, and gender equality in Kenya. As the founder of Safe Steps Foundation Kenya (SSF-K), she leads initiatives that empower communities through economic development, human rights advocacy, and civic engagement. As Chairperson of the Bomet Consortium of Organizations and a Program Coordinator, Debra plays a critical role in advancing community-centered projects. Her leadership extends to her work with Civil Society Networks where she fosters youth and women’s participation in leadership, social accountability and governance.
An Alumni of the Emerging Leaders Foundation Africa in a Leadership Development Program, Debra actively engages in policy discussions, youth mentorship programs, and training on ethical leadership. She has also contributed to the Power of Equality project, championing interventions that address gender disparities and promote inclusive leadership. With a deep commitment to civic engagement and democratic values, Debra strives to inspire and mobilize young people and women to become change agents in governance and leadership. Her work is driven by the vision of a just society built on integrity, accountability, and equal opportunities for all.
