Arlette Kitumaini is a young Congolese lawyer. She obtained her law degree (equivalent to a Master of Law Studies) from the Université Libre des Pays des Grands Lacs (ULPGL) in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2019.

In the same year, she launched her humanitarian career, working with various local and international NGOs. Passionate about the rights and justice of the most afflicted and keen to contribute to the proper administration of justice, Arlette joined the Ituri Bar in 2021 and became a young lawyer dedicated to defending human rights.

An expert in Prevention/Protection against Sexual Abuse, Exploitation and Harassment (PSEAH) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Arlette has been certified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and has become one of the trainers of trainers in this field. Arlette focuses on defending the rights of the voiceless, in particular women, girls and children.

She has also been trained and certified by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with OSACO Human Risk Factors as an AEHS case investigator.

Arlette is a fellow of the first cohort of the Waging Justice for Women Fellowship 2023, one of the programmes of the Clooney Foundation for Justice. She was based in The Gambia, where she was a Legal Fellow with the Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa (IHRDA).
