
Alain Metodjo

Founder and Director
Alain Metodjo is the founder and director of Africapols. His research interests focus on democratic innovations, participatory institutions in Africa, and intercultural communication. He has a PhD in Political Science from the Sorbonne University in Paris. He taught political communication, international relations and influence at the Catholic University of West Africa. In Senegal, Alain Metodjo lectured on constitutional law, decentralisation, and local powers at Dakar Science Po. He has written a book on local democracy in Africa and completed doctoral research on political legitimacy in the context of African elections.
Alain Metodjo has trained African citizens in civic culture and participation in the political decision-making process, for a civil society-initiated project in Togo. Alain also conducted research on ‘The State of Democracy and Elections in Benin’ for the Gorée Institute in Senegal. In Burkina Faso, he wrote about political communication in the Capacity Building Manual in collaboration with IGD and trained participants at the Party Leaders School.
